Author Guidelines
Welcome Authors
JCRELC welcomes submissions from scholars, researchers, and practitioners in English literature, cultural studies, and interdisciplinary humanities. Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript.
The Journal of Creative Research in English Literature and Culture (JCRELC) is committed to maintaining high academic standards through rigorous peer review and clear publication policies. These guidelines are designed to help authors prepare manuscripts that meet our quality standards and streamline the submission process.
1. Manuscript Preparation
General Requirements
- Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English
- Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere
- Length: Research articles: 4000-8000 words; Review articles: 3000-6000 words; Book reviews: 1000-2000 words
- File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) or PDF
- Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
- Spacing: Double-spaced throughout
- Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
Title Page
- Full title (concise and descriptive)
- Running title (max 50 characters)
- Author names with affiliations
- ORCID IDs (recommended)
- Corresponding author contact details
- Funding information (if applicable)
Manuscript Structure
- Title Page
- Abstract (200-300 words)
- Keywords (4-6)
- Introduction
- Literature Review
- Methodology
- Analysis/Findings
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- References
2. Formatting Requirements

| Headings | Use up to 3 levels of headings (consistent formatting) |

| Footnotes | Minimal use; use endnotes if necessary |
3. Abstract and Keywords
Abstract
- Length: 200-300 words
- Should be self-contained
- Include: Background, Objective, Method, Results, Conclusion
- No citations or abbreviations
- Clearly state the significance of the research
Keywords
- Number: 4-6 keywords
- Listed after the abstract
- Use relevant and specific terms
- Include disciplinary and methodological terms
- Avoid overly broad terms
Example Abstract Structure:
This study examines [topic] through [method]. Drawing on [theoretical framework], the analysis reveals [key findings]. The findings contribute to [field] by [significance].
4. References and Citations
MLA Style (Literature Focus)
For manuscripts with a literary focus, use MLA 9th edition style:
- In-text: (Author Page) e.g., (Smith 45)
- Works Cited: Alphabetical by author
- Book: Smith, John. Title. Publisher, Year.
- Article: Doe, Jane. "Title." Journal, vol. X, no. Y, Year, pp. Z-Z.
APA Style (Cultural Studies Focus)
For manuscripts with a social sciences focus, use APA 7th edition style:
- In-text: (Author, Year) e.g., (Smith, 2020)
- References: Alphabetical by author
- Book: Smith, J. (2020). Title. Publisher.
- Article: Doe, J. (2020). Title. Journal, X(Y), Z-Z.
Important: Authors must choose one citation style (MLA or APA) and apply it consistently throughout the manuscript. References must be complete and accurate.
5. Submission Process
Prepare Your Manuscript
Ensure your manuscript follows all formatting guidelines and ethical standards. Review the Submission Checklist.
Register as an Author
Create an account on our submission portal. Provide accurate contact information and ORCID ID.
Submit Manuscript
Upload your manuscript and supporting documents through the online submission system. Complete all required fields.
Track Submission
Monitor the status of your submission through the tracking system. You will receive notifications at each stage.
6. Ethical Standards
Authorship
- All authors must have made substantial contributions
- Corresponding author must have approval from all co-authors
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors
- All authors must be responsible for the content
Plagiarism
- All submissions are screened for plagiarism
- Proper attribution of sources is required
- Self-plagiarism is not permitted
- Use quotation marks for direct quotes
Conflict of Interest
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest
- Financial or personal relationships must be disclosed
- Editorial decisions are made impartially
- Reviewers must decline if they have conflicts
Data Transparency
- Provide data availability statements
- Share data where ethically possible
- Maintain research integrity
- Follow ethical guidelines for research

7. Peer Review Process
Initial Screening
Editorial review for scope, quality, and basic requirements
Expert Review
Double-blind review by 2-3 subject experts
Revisions
Author revisions based on reviewer feedback
Final Decision
Acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection
Timeline
3-5 working days
4-6 weeks

8. Publication Fees
JCRELC is an open-access journal. Article Processing Charges (APC) may apply to cover publication costs.

Note: No submission fees are charged. APC is only applicable after manuscript acceptance. Fee waivers are available for authors from developing countries and early-career researchers.
