Open Access License Policy

JCRELC Open Access License Policy

The English Literature and Culture Journal (JCRELC) follows a clear Open Access License Policy to ensure global accessibility of published research. Authors can choose from Creative Commons licenses, use self-archiving options, and benefit from wider visibility, compliance with funder requirements, and long-term research impact through ethical and transparent open access publishing.

The English Literature and Culture Journal (JCRELC) is committed to ensuring that research is freely available to a global audience. Our Open Access License Policy defines the terms under which authors grant JCRELC the right to publish, distribute, and archive their work. This policy is designed to support wide accessibility, ethical publishing, and long-term visibility of scholarly contributions.

Copyright Policy

  • Authors publishing with JCRELC retain the copyright of their work.
  • By submitting an article, authors grant JCRELC the non-exclusive right to publish, archive, and disseminate the work in print and electronic formats.
  • Authors are free to deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or academic networking platforms, provided that proper citation and a link to the original publication in JCRELC are included.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material (such as figures, tables, or images) included in their manuscript.

By adopting open access, JCRELC allows readers, educators, and institutions to use published research without restrictions, fostering knowledge exchange and ensuring that scholarly work makes a greater impact worldwide.

Creative Commons Licensing Options

Authors publishing with JCRELC may choose from the following Creative Commons (CC) licenses to determine how their work can be reused:

  • CC BY (Attribution): Others may share, adapt, and use the work, including commercially, provided proper credit is given to the author.
  • CC BY-NC (Attribution – NonCommercial): Allows remixing and adaptation for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution. New works must remain non-commercial but do not need to use the same license.
  • CC BY-NC-ND (Attribution – NonCommercial – NoDerivs): Permits downloading and sharing with attribution, but no modifications or commercial use are allowed.

Authors should carefully select a license that aligns with their research goals, institutional requirements, and funding body mandates. Once a license is chosen, it is permanent and cannot be withdrawn.

Green Open Access (Self-Archiving)

JCRELC supports Green Open Access, which allows authors to deposit the accepted version of their manuscript (post-peer-review but before final formatting) in:

  • Institutional repositories
  • Subject-specific repositories
  • Personal or non-commercial websites

These archived versions must be distributed under a CC BY-NC-ND license and follow the journal’s sharing guidelines to ensure proper attribution and ethical use.

Archiving Policy

To preserve scholarly work and encourage long-term access, authors are encouraged to archive their manuscripts in recognized repositories. Deposited versions must be clearly identified as accepted manuscripts and must not replace or misrepresent the final published version hosted by JCRELC. This approach maintains the integrity of the official publication while maximizing visibility.

Benefits of Publishing Open Access

  • Greater Visibility & Impact: Open access articles are read and cited more often, boosting recognition and academic reputation.
  • Global Accessibility: Research becomes available to readers worldwide, regardless of financial or institutional restrictions.
  • Funding Compliance: Many funding agencies mandate open access publishing. JCRELC’s flexible licensing options help authors meet these requirements with ease.
  • Knowledge Sharing: By removing barriers, open access promotes the spread of cultural, literary, and academic insights across communities.

Commitment to Ethical Open Access

The English Literature and Culture Journal (JCRELC) is dedicated to providing transparent, fair, and sustainable open access publishing. Our policies align with international standards to protect author rights, support knowledge dissemination, and encourage responsible use of published work.
