Article Withdrawal Policy | English Literature & Culture Journal (JCRELC)
The English Literature and Culture Journal (JCRELC) outlines its Article Withdrawal Policy to maintain academic integrity. This policy covers article withdrawal, retraction, removal, and replacement, with clear processes and conditions. It ensures ethical publishing, protects intellectual property, and upholds scholarly standards in English literature and cultural studies research.
At the English Literature and Culture Journal (JCRELC), we take the accuracy and credibility of published work very seriously. Every article becomes a permanent part of the academic record once published. In rare situations, however, it may be necessary to withdraw, retract, remove, or replace an article to maintain ethical standards and protect the integrity of the journal.
Policy Overview
The editorial team of JCRELC carefully reviews and selects articles for publication based on their originality, relevance, and compliance with ethical and legal rules. Once an article is published, it becomes part of the permanent archive. Still, in exceptional cases, we may need to take corrective action such as withdrawal, retraction, removal, or replacement of an article. These steps are only taken when absolutely necessary.
Article Withdrawal
When can an article be withdrawn?
If it was submitted by mistake more than once.
If it contains serious errors or incomplete information.
If there are ethical concerns such as plagiarism, false authorship, or data manipulation.
Process and Fees:
Authors must send a formal withdrawal request to the editorial office.
Once an article is published, no changes can be made. If authors still request corrections, a modification fee of 100 USD will apply.
If the author wants to fully retract the article after publication, a retraction fee of 250 USD will be charged.
The journal cannot control or remove versions of the article already shared or stored by third-party databases or websites.
After Withdrawal:
Withdrawn articles will not be considered again for publication.
A notice will be placed in the article’s place stating it has been withdrawn under journal policy.
Article Retraction
When is retraction used?
In cases of serious ethical issues such as plagiarism, false authorship, duplicate submissions, or fabricated information.
If major mistakes are found that could mislead readers or affect the value of the research.
Retraction Process:
A retraction note titled “Retraction: [Article Title]” will appear in the next issue, signed by the editor and/or the author(s).
The original article will remain available online but marked as “Retracted” with a watermark on the PDF.
The HTML version will be removed, but the record will remain visible for transparency.
Article Removal (Legal Reasons)
When is removal necessary?
If an article contains defamatory statements, violates copyright or privacy rights, or if required by law.
If the content poses a serious risk to individuals, institutions, or cultural sensitivities.
Removal Process:
The article’s details (title and authorship) will stay on record.
The main text will be replaced with a notice explaining the reason for removal.
Article Replacement
When is replacement allowed?
If an article contains mistakes that require correction with a new version.
If the original content could mislead readers or harm academic credibility.
Replacement Process:
The retraction process will be followed.
A new corrected version will be published with a note linking both versions, along with a clear history of changes.
Final Decision
The authority to approve withdrawal, retraction, removal, or replacement lies with the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, and the journal’s editorial board. Authors can make requests, but the final decision will always be based on what best upholds academic and ethical standards.
