Reviewer Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

To be considered as a reviewer for JCRELC, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Educational Qualification

PhD or equivalent terminal degree in English literature, cultural studies, linguistics, or related humanities discipline. Required

Publication Record

Published research articles in Scopus, Web of Science, or other top-tier journals. Required

Research Expertise

Demonstrated expertise in specific areas of English literature, cultural studies, or interdisciplinary humanities relevant to the journal's scope.

ORCID ID

ORCID ID is required to maintain transparency and link reviewer contributions to their academic profiles.

Review Experience

Previous experience in peer review is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for new reviewers with strong qualifications.

Ethical Standards

Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards in research and peer review, including adherence to COPE guidelines.

Note: Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualification requirements will not be considered. All applications are carefully reviewed by the Editorial Board.

The Review Process

Invitation

You receive an invitation to review a manuscript that matches your expertise. You can accept or decline the invitation.

Access Manuscript

If you accept, you will receive access to the manuscript through our secure online system. You can also download the manuscript for review.

Review Manuscript

Evaluate the manuscript thoroughly, considering its originality, methodology, contribution, and presentation. Use the provided review form to structure your feedback.

Submit Review

Submit your review report within the agreed timeframe. Provide constructive and specific feedback to help authors improve their work.

Follow-up

If requested, you may be asked to review revised manuscripts to ensure that all concerns have been addressed appropriately.

Reviewer Ethics

JCRELC expects all reviewers to adhere to the following ethical principles:

Confidentiality

Keep all manuscript details confidential. Do not share with others.

Impartiality

Evaluate manuscripts based on merit, not personal factors.

Transparency

Declare all conflicts of interest. Recuse yourself if necessary.

Important: Reviewers should not use AI tools to generate review reports without human verification. All reviews must be the intellectual work of the reviewer. Please review our AI Policy for guidance.

How to Apply

Application Process

To apply as a reviewer for JCRELC, please follow these steps:

Download the Membership Application Form

Visit our Downloads Page to download the official Membership Application Form (PDF, ~110 KB). This form is required for Editorial Board, Reviewer Board, or Advisory Board membership.

Prepare Your Application Package

Gather the following documents:

  • Completed and signed Membership Application Form
  • Passport-size photograph (digital format)
  • Brief details about your qualifications, awards, and institutions
  • List of research papers published in Scopus, Web of Science, or top-tier journals
  • Your ORCID ID

Send your complete application package to:

Application Review

The Editorial Board will carefully review your application and notify you of the decision within 2-3 weeks. Successful applicants will be added to our reviewer database and receive training materials.

Important Notes:

  • Official Forms Only: Please download and use the official forms only; modified versions will not be accepted.
  • Keep Records: Keep a copy of all signed documents for your personal record.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Applications that do not meet the minimum qualification requirements (PhD + Scopus/WoS publications) will not be considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Applicants must have a PhD in English literature, cultural studies, linguistics, or a related humanities discipline, and a strong publication record in Scopus, Web of Science, or other top-tier journals. These are mandatory requirements.

You need to submit: (1) Completed and signed Membership Application Form (downloaded from jcrelc.com/downloads), (2) Passport-size photograph, (3) Brief details about qualifications, awards, and institutions, (4) List of Scopus/WoS publications, and (5) ORCID ID.

The typical review takes 2-4 hours depending on the manuscript length and complexity. Reviewers are expected to complete the review within 2-3 weeks of accepting the invitation. You may receive 2-6 invitations per year.

JCRELC operates on a voluntary peer review model. Reviewers receive recognition through certificates, acknowledgment in the journal, and discounts on article processing charges (APC). A token honorarium may be provided for exceptional review contributions.

While review experience is preferred, we welcome applications from highly qualified researchers who are new to peer review. JCRELC provides training resources, guidelines, and mentorship opportunities for new reviewers who meet the minimum qualifications.
